LEATHER

Our materials research led us to one of the oldest American tanneries, the Horween leather company. The vegetable tanned cordovan leather used, comes from a specific part of the horsehide that’s known for its durability. The cut is done exclusively for our bags.

The tanning process takes countless hours. Skilled artisans handle the genuine cordovan leather hide in each step. From the cutting, shaving and polishing, to the tumbling and ironing. The entire process can take months to complete. Finally, each cordovan hide goes through a special process developed personally by Mr. Horween.

Horsehide is one of the most revered leather hides. When the leather is milled at the tannery, careful steps ensure the energy and spirit are preserved from each horse. Known for its strength and beauty, the natural scars and textures represent each brave life. The scratches, creases, and natural folds, either subtle or deep, reflect the experience of each animal. Either living in the wild, running gracefully on the track, or serving in the Calvary, horses are majestic creatures. There are no imperfections, but reflections of the animals spirit. Our bags let their spirit ride and live forever.
